Summer Activities During a Global Pandemic
This summer will be a strange one. Although regulations are loosening up, many of us still won’t be able to travel or go on vacation. That doesn’t mean that this summer will be awful, you can still make it one to remember! We have collected some activities that you can do this summer, regardless of there being a global pandemic. We’re going to do our best to help you make the most out of the next few months!
Go For a Picnic or have a BBQ
Yes! These activities are allowed again! Go to the park and enjoy some freshly made bread you’ve learned how to make, or enjoy a BBQ in your own backyard!
Grow herbs at your balcony or backyard (and enjoy the results!)
While you’re at it, grow some herbs with the kids and use these freshly in your picnic’s and BBQ’s.
Swim at the sea, lake, river, or even canal
The Netherlands has enough water for you to enjoy, so take a dip!
Have a movie night
You can go all out with this one, if you have a back yard, set up some pillows and blankets, and project the movie onto a big white bed sheet for a cinema experience! Bring out the popcorn and have a great summer evening.
Have a pajama party
This one never gets old, you know the drill! Music, pyjamas, breakfast foods, and feathery pillow fights followed by classic games like truth or dare.
Have a “water fight”
Bring out the water hoses, water guns, and water balloons and declare a “civil water war” in your backyard or in a park. This is a great way to spend a hot afternoon!
Make your own ice cream
You don’t need an ice cream machine, follow this recipe for some delicious home-made ice cream!
Bake something
We’ve had a full few months of quarantine to perfect our baking skills, so time to share this with some friends this summer! Bake your favourite recipe with the kids for a fun and tasty afternoon.
Make your own flower crowns for the Midsummer
Midsummer is a Finnish summer tradition that includes making flower crowns. Take the kids to the park and start crafting!
Read a book outside
Nothing beats drinking some cold lemonade in the sunshine with a good book. Time to relax!
Build a huge sandcastle
Take to the beach and build a fort with your kids that will put Disney movies to shame!
Go for a trip into the forest
Forests provide a nice refreshing environment for a hot summers day, and doesn’t require any physical contact with others. Perfect for a day of exploration, tree climbing, and relaxing walks.
